Hey there, Trav & Miles here - the guys behind New Self.
As full-time ministers, we're pretty heavily invested in helping the local church do these things - but we wanted to do more. The clothes we usually wear every day don't normally say or do or mean anything - it mostly just looks cool. Maybe it promotes a cool brand. But what if it could look cool and say something at the same time?
This is where we step in.
Our goal is to create trendy Christian apparell that we think people would actually enjoy wearing.
We want them to enjoy wearing it because it feels good.
Quality products. Durable. Comfortable.
We want them to enjoy wearing it because it looks good.
Simple design. No tacky slogans. No cheap plays on words. Zero daggy secular ripoffs. Just good looking threads.
We want them to enjoy wearing it because it says good things.
Clear statements about who Jesus is and who we are.
We've had some challenges...
As two ministers - we're not exactly 'rolling in it', which means that getting up and going has been difficult. Since we've been unable to provide the main startup capital to produce our clothes in a larger scale, this means that our prices aren't great. Our current prices reflect the cost for a single t-shirt to be custom printed on, and delivered. We wouldn't even be making much money from it!
This is particularly frustrating for us, because we're committed to give away 10% of all profits to Christian charities - which at this point doesn't amount to much. We'd love to make even more of an impact with our generous giving!
Plus - $40 for a tee shirt is something you'd expect from Gucci, not from a small Christian merch store.
Basically, because of this cost and low benefit at present, we've been unwilling to re-launch New Self in any meaningful way.
We have a solution.
Basically, our goal is to mass-produce our clothes.
We've been sourcing suppliers, and our DEEP DESIRE would be to bring our tee prices down to be only $25 each, and our Stretch Fit Joggers for only $40 each. We want our products to be highly desired, high quality, with lowest possible prices - so our gear can get out there. We're starting with higher prices as we're producing to scale, so our prayer is that as we grow, those prices will continue to drop.
This is all super exciting!
Bottom line _ we need some help.
What we need at this point to make it all happen is for some generous partners to seed-fund these orders so that we can get off and running. Then as people share our love of these products - we're prayerful that the rest will take off from there.
So... what are we talking about here?
For each batch of tees (one colour mixed gender and sizes) it costs us around $1200 per order.
For each batch of unisex pants/joggers (one colour, mixed sizes) it costs us around $1500 per order.
As you can see, we already have a number of designs created and products ready to go - with variations in colours for each item. At this point if we had enough money for even one batch of tees and one batch of pants, then we'd be ready to re-launch this baby back into the world and see where God will take things.
We're just two guys wanting to make a difference, and we hope you're keen to make a difference with us. There are a few ways you could do this.
1. You could partner us in prayer.
This is super important and we would LOVE and dearly value your prayers, and hopefully as we launch you'd consider partnering through buying some of our threads.
2. You could partner with us with a one-off donation/gift.
Maybe you'd just love to be part of what we're doing and believe in it, and would love to support us by offering us a donation to get us going. This would be incredible and we'd be so thankful for any offer of generosity.
3. You might be in a position to offer us a loan.
Maybe you have some money that you're not able to give away, but you could offer to us as a short term loan. This money would be used for our startup capitol to get these bulk orders underway, and as sales come through we'd use the first part of that income to pay that loan back.
4. Maybe you have some expertise/skills to guide us.
We're working from a vision and a passion - the rest we're figuring out as we go.
5. You can buy some of our clothes when we launch!
We'd be honoured to have you walking around wearing our New Self threads and being an ambassador for our brand as you tell other people about the clothes you're wearing!
